Islands Brygge station on the M1
Islands Brygge is a Copenhagen Metro station below ground in Islands Brygge, served by the M1. It opened in 2002 and sits in zone 1 of the regional fare system.
Islands Brygge station sits in the middle of a varied patch of the city: the harbourside promenade of the same name, the University of Copenhagen’s Amager campus, DR Byen and the northern tip of Amager Fælled all lie close by. Students rely on it throughout the year for lectures, while in summer it gets busier still as Copenhageners come down to the water to swim and pick up an ice cream. The area is also known for bold modern buildings, notably the cube-shaped Bikuben and the round Tietgenkollegiet student residence, two well-known examples of the experimental architecture now woven into the city.
On the M1, Christianshavn is 2 minutes back down the line and DR Byen is 2 minutes further on.
Trains call here 24 hours a day, every day of the year — every two minutes at rush hour, every three during the day and evening, and every 8 to 20 minutes overnight depending on the day of the week.
