About the M1 line
The M1 is the green line and, with the M2, the original Copenhagen Metro — it opened in October 2002 and was extended west to Vanløse in 2003. It runs from Vanløse in the north-west, through Frederiksberg and the heart of the city, then south across Amager to Vestamager, where the city simply stops and the Amager Fælled nature reserve begins.
From Vanløse to Christianshavn the M1 shares its tracks with the M2, which is why that stretch has a train roughly every minute in the daytime. South of Christianshavn the two lines part: the M1 carries on through Islands Brygge, DR Byen — the Danish broadcasting quarter and the university — and the glass towers of Ørestad, most of it on elevated track with a view.
You can change to the M3 Cityringen at Frederiksberg and to the M3 and M4 at Kongens Nytorv, and to S-trains at Vanløse, Flintholm and Nørreport. Ørestad has regional trains towards Sweden. End to end the ride takes 23 minutes.
