About the M4 line
The M4 is the blue line, and it is Copenhagen’s harbour line. It opened in March 2020 as a short branch from Østerport out to the new district at Orientkaj in Nordhavn, and on 22 June 2024 it grew a second branch south: five new stations through Sydhavn to København Syd.
In between, the M4 shares the Cityringen tunnel — Østerport, Marmorkirken, Kongens Nytorv, Gammel Strand, Rådhuspladsen, København H — with the M3. That shared stretch is why those platforms see a train roughly every minute at rush hour: two lines, one tunnel. Watch the front of the train, not just the platform, or you will board a circle when you wanted the harbour.
Orientkaj is elevated, which makes the northern end of the line the only stretch of metro with a view over the water. The full run from Orientkaj to København Syd takes 21 minutes.
Every station on the M4, in order
Minutes are cumulative riding time from the first station, taken from the operator's own journey times. Gold dots are interchanges.
