Vestamager station on the M1
Vestamager is a Copenhagen Metro station on an elevated viaduct in southern Amager, served by the M1. It opened in 2002 and sits in zone 3 of the regional fare system.
At the outer station, Vestamager Station, the line meets the 2000-hectare protected nature area Kalvebod Fælled. Nowhere else in Europe will you find a nature area of this size so close to a big city. Close to the station, Ørestad’s newly built apartment blocks rise up along the metro tracks alongside the modern and critically acclaimed residential building 8-tallet. The large building sits like a mountain in the landscape before the large, flat grassy areas take over the scene.
Close to the station you’ll also find Naturcenter Amager, where you can learn more about animals and nature or rent bikes if you want to experience Kalvebod Fælled on two wheels.
On the M1, Ørestad is 2 minutes back down the line.
This is the end of the M1. Trains reverse here, so you can always get a seat if you board at Vestamager.
Trains call here 24 hours a day, every day of the year — every two minutes at rush hour, every three during the day and evening, and every 8 to 20 minutes overnight depending on the day of the week.
