Vestamager station on the M1
Vestamager is a Copenhagen Metro station on an elevated viaduct in southern Amager, served by the M1. It opened in 2002 and sits in zone 3 of the regional fare system.
Vestamager marks the end of the line, and it sits on the edge of Kalvebod Fælled, a protected landscape covering 2,000 hectares. Having this much open countryside right beside a capital city is unusual. Ørestad’s new housing lines the tracks by the station, including the large residential block known as 8-tallet. Its bulk reads almost like a hill rising out of the terrain, and beyond it the view opens onto wide, level grassland.
Naturcenter Amager is nearby as well. It is a place to learn about local animals and nature, and bikes can be hired there for exploring Kalvebod Fælled.
On the M1, Ørestad is 2 minutes back down the line.
This is the end of the M1. Trains reverse here, so you can always get a seat if you board at Vestamager.
Trains call here 24 hours a day, every day of the year — every two minutes at rush hour, every three during the day and evening, and every 8 to 20 minutes overnight depending on the day of the week.
