København H station on the M3
København H is a Copenhagen Metro station below ground in Vesterbro, by Central Station, served by the M3 and M4. It opened in 2019 and sits in zone 1 of the regional fare system.
The metro platforms lie beside the historic main building of Copenhagen Central Station, where S-trains share the tracks with InterCity, regional and Øresund services. An underground walkway joins the two stations, so changing between the metro and the train platforms is straightforward. Down at platform level the walls are faced with red ceramic panels, a finish also used at Nørrebro and Østerport.
That red is a reference to the S-trains, which connect at all three stations. A walk of a few minutes brings you to Tivoli, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek and Rådhuspladsen, the starting point for a stroll down Strøget. Istedgade, one of the main streets running through Vesterbro, is also close to the station, and its many bars and restaurants keep the area lively well after dark.
Kødbyen, the former meatpacking district, is close as well; its old industrial halls now hold fashionable restaurants and nightclubs.
On the M3, Enghave Plads is about 1 minute back down the line and Rådhuspladsen is about 1 minute further on.
København H is an interchange: the lines meet inside one station, so changing between them means walking across a platform or riding one escalator — there is nothing to tap again and nothing more to pay.
Trains call here 24 hours a day, every day of the year — every two minutes at rush hour, every three during the day and evening, and every 8 to 20 minutes overnight depending on the day of the week.
