Sluseholmen station

Sluseholmen is a Copenhagen Metro station below ground in Sluseholmen, Sydhavn, served by the M4. It opened in 2024 and sits in zone 1 of the regional fare system.

Sluseholmen station opens onto a spot where the street meets the water. To reach the islet itself, cross the footbridge or follow the road past the row of newly built homes. Small cafés and good restaurants are tucked away all over Sluseholmen, and on a sunny day it is worth passing the harbour bath, where the view takes in green banks beyond the lock and a long, open line of sight up through Sydhavnen, the area that gives the district its name.

Those keen to see more of the harbour and green spaces can set off in the opposite direction. One option is to walk to Fiskerihavnen, where a long promenade with wide views leads straight over the bridge towards Amager. Staying in Sydhavn, you can visit the sheep and alpacas grazing on Sydhavnstippen, follow the path out to its tip at the water’s edge, or continue all the way to Valbyparken, which joins directly onto Sydhavnstippen.

It is a long and attractive walk that begins just a few minutes from the station. Inside, artist René Schmidt created a concrete beam with sea-inspired structures set into it, along with an eight-metre steel sculpture that catches the light in the station hall and gives the ride on the escalator a little extra interest.

On the M4, Enghave Brygge is 2 minutes back down the line and Mozarts Plads is 2 minutes further on.

Trains call here 24 hours a day, every day of the year — every two minutes at rush hour, every three during the day and evening, and every 8 to 20 minutes overnight depending on the day of the week.
